My adventure began forty years ago, when I discovered the world of truffles … a bit for fun, a bit for destiny, and I immediately fell in love with it!
I was slightly more than a teenager: every morning I used to leavemy place with my moped, with a small wooden doghouse in the backtohave my dog and my vanghino*(a gift from my grandfather) with me: I grew up like this, in the knowledge that truffle hunting is a real art, to be learned little by little and with constancy, dedication and a lot of perseverance!
At that time, while my passion was growing, I firstly worked in a video game factory, and then for local Mountain Community.
Over time, however, I began feeling l that my heart was beating elsewhere!
One day I took courage to make the most important decision of my life: I quit my job to start devoting myself completely to the world of truffles!
Small steps, always in the same direction, always carrying my ideas on, never looking back: this is how I managed to become a highly experienced truffle hunter.

Over the years I have been dealing with many professionals in the industry, who allowed me to increase more and more my skills and also to become an expert connoisseur of truffle dogs: during my life I have grown more than 120 specimens!
Until when, a few years ago, I met my beloved Lolita, my favoritecompanion of adventures! The first time I saw her it was like seeing Maradona playing football during your childhood: I strongly wanted her, I adopted her, I raised her, I taught her to hunt truffles, and with her I immediately established a truly special relationship.
The first years of work as truffle hunter passed quickly, until my instinct told me it was time to give my profession a further twist: I decided to stop being “just” a truffle hunter and I started buying and reselling truffles.
During this new business it often happened that some small truffles were stood apart; hence, the idea:
“What is left aside … why not slicing it, or keeping it whole, in a jar?”
I started with 3, then 14, then 53 jars… and I never stopped!
Giuliano Tartufi S.p.A. was born this way: thanks to fresh truffles, but also to many courageous women and men who have followed, helped and supported me over the years. If we have achieved all these goals, it is also thanks to them!
At the beginning the results were not always positive, but I never doubted whether to give up or continue because this is not a novel but my life: I am the same as 40 years ago, when I used to have only a dog, a moped and a vanghino*… because thereis passion or there is not, you cannot create it!
* the so-called vanghino is a special tool similar to a small shovel
